About Tom Lawson

Tom Lawson was born in Whitby, Ontario. He played junior hockey for the Markham Waxers in 1998-99. He then earned a NCAA Division 1 scholarship to Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1999–2000. Following, Lawson turned pro. For three years Lawson Played in the WCHL, AHL, IHL and won a championship in the UHL and received many team and league awards.

In 2003 Lawson signed as a free agent with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL . He spent three years in the AHL with the Hershey Bears and Lowell.  In 2006 Lawson began his goaltending career overseas in Finland. In 2007 Lawson became the first ever North American to play for the Russian “Red Army” in the Russian super league. That season Lawson lead the RSL in wins, games played, shut outs and saves then signed a two year contract in Novosibirsk when the RSL turned into the Russian KHL in 2008. Lawson retired from hockey in 2010 after playing his last season in Leksand Sweden. 

Currently Lawson resides in Aurora, Ontario with his wife and their three children and is a proud  fire fighter with the town of Ajax.  Lawson is also Goalie coach of the prestigious St.andrews College Varsity hockey team in Aurora.
